Learn how to transform flowers into beautiful botanical prints!

In this evening workshop you will learn different techniques of how to directly print fresh flower material onto fabric using a hammer. Class will consist of looking at samples, learning some basic tips and techniques and a demonstration of how to prepare fabric for flower pounding (or any natural dye project) through the process of mordanting. The later part of the class will be working on a scarf to show off your new skills!

All materials are provided but you are more than welcome to bring your own plant and flower material from home. 

Cost: $100+ $30 material fee

What is included:

Mordanted scarf ready to be printed
Fabric scraps for experimenting
Flowers and plants from my garden

What is needed:

Plant and flower materials gathered from home
Hammer
Rubber mallet (if you have one!)

Your Instructor

Alissa Kloet is a life-long lover of textiles, pattern and colour. She learned the art of screen-printing and surface design at Sheridan College and upon graduating obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Her textile journey has also included learning from natural dye experts from Toronto, Ontario to Rajasthan.

Alissa has been an instructor in the textile department at NSCAD and Patch Halifax among others and now teaches workshops in her home studio.
